Our New Bishop

The Prescotts
I suppose this is old news now, but we have a new Bishopric in the Whittier Pickering Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Rodriguez was released a few months ago, and Barclay Prescott was called to serve.

Our congregation is so blessed.  We had a wonderful Bishop, and the new Bishop is a terrific guy as well.  He and his wife have been an asset to the Ward in the many years they have lived in the Ward boundaries.

Every Bishop needs a good wife. Their wives, in many ways, bear the brunt of this arduous Church calling.  Sister Prescott is very capable of handling this difficult assignment.  Jeannie and I served in the Young Women's program years ago.  She's a great lady and a good friend.

Barclay and Jeannie have three boys: Warren, Wyatt and Samuel.

I love this photo of them!  (It was taken by a member of our ward, Jared Ibey.  As a side note: Jared just got his mission call to the Paraguay Asuncion mission!  He'll be leaving for South America soon.  You go, Jared!)

In the New Testament (1 Timothy 3:2) it says:  A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach.

Barclay is all those things and more.

Do you have special people in your life who make you strive to be a better person?  I hope so!
